How to Grow Orlaya

Orlaya grandiflora

Hardy Cool Season Continuous Harvest

Orlaya is a hardy annual with flat-topped white lace flower heads resembling refined cow parsley. Sow in autumn for strongest plants, or in early spring after cold stratification. Needs full sun and well-drained, lean soil. Avoid rich feeding. Self-seeds freely once happy. Excellent cut flower lasting well in water. Grows to 60cm and benefits from support netting in exposed sites.

Care Essentials

  • Rarely needed. Prefers lean, well-drained soil. Rich feeding produces foliage at the expense of flowers.
  • Self-seeds freely once established. Autumn-sown plants produce stronger, earlier-flowering specimens than spring sowings.
